Back to the full 10 Day Iceland Itinerary
Arnarstapi:
This small seaside town had several walking trails on the cliffs edge with beautiful views of the water and the dramatic basalt faced cliffs. Although it was rainy, we spent a few hours walking around the trails and admiring the beauty of the Snaefellsjokull Peninsula.
Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge:
A short drive East from Arnarstapi, is a pulloff with parking for Rauðfeldsgjá Gorge. It looks like the earth has split in two! You can walk up from the parking and enter the narrow gorge. We walked 20-30 feet into the gorge, but apparently you can keep going.
Landbrotalaug Hot Springs:
After a wet, cold, rainy day we found this slightly hidden hot spring area a short drive off of the main road. It’s a little tricky to find, but the GPS coordinates are: N64°49.933 W22°19.110. There’s a small parking lot and it’s a short walk to the hot springs. We actually found that there’s a few different areas you can get in and some are hotter than others. Absolute paradise! Read about how to get to the hot springs (they’re hidden!) and why we love the Landbrotalaug Hot Springs.
Reykjavik:
After thoroughly enjoying the hot springs, we made our way back to Reykjavik where we spent our final night at the Hotel Hilton Reykjavik. We ended up exploring the city and going to the top of the Hallgrimskirkja Church, which had some amazing views of the city.
Blue Lagoon:
The next morning, we stopped by the Blue Lagoon before our flight. Make sure you book a reservation at least a few days in advance, as you have to reserve the time that you can enter the Blue Lagoon! It’s pretty pricey, but it made for a memorable last day before we flew out.
